這篇研究是去比較下顎premolar, 在做完根管治療後的各種可能剩餘齒質下, 以crown復型, 然後去比較他們的fracture resistance. 在72個human lower premolar, 做完根管治療後, 分成六組：GHT(沒有post), GCF(有2mm ferrule+post), GBF(buccal有2mm ferrule+post), GLF(lingual 有2mm ferrule+post), GBLF(buccal和lingual各有2mm ferrule+post), GWF(沒有ferrule只有post). Post都是使用fiber post, self adhesive resin cement, 然後做NiCr crown, 以30度角的斜向力道測試fracture resistance.
結果是GHT最好, GBLF和GWF最差. 但是所有組的fracture resistance都有到790N. 作者的結論是ferrule的位置在哪都沒差. 有趣的是他們計算fracture mode, 沒有ferrule的fracture多半斷上半段, 而有ferrule的就多會裂到牙根.
